Valencia Form

Valencia had a slow start to the season but have become hard to beat since November. The Bats are undefeated in seven of their last eight matches but are struggling to win.

Valencia’s only defeat in that run came at home in a 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid. Javi Gracia’s side drew 0-0 at Eibar and 2-2 at home against Athletic Bilbao with Carlos Soler opening the scoring and assisting Manu Vallejo for a late equaliser.

Valencia looked in real trouble at fourth division club Terrassa in the Copa del Rey.

Down 2-0 when Guillem Molina was sent off in the 52nd minute, it was a huge effort to draw 2-2 in regulation time through Soler and Yunus Musah. Gonçalo Guedes scored twice in extra time to complete the turnaround.

Valencia returned to La Liga with a 2-2 draw at Barcelona. Mouctar Diakhaby and Maxi Gómez were on target in an exciting match at Camp Nou.

Sevilla Form

Sevilla lost 1-0 at home to Real Madrid but bounced back with three straight wins. A 3-1 win at Rennes in the UEFA Champions League was followed with a 1-0 victory at Getafe in La Liga.

Julen Lopetegui’s side had little trouble at fourth division club Ciudad de Lucena in the Copa del Rey. Óscar Rodríguez, Luuk de Jong and Joan Jordán scored before the break in a comfortable 3-0 win.

Sevilla drew 1-1 at home against Real Valladolid in their last match. Lucas Ocampos opened the scoring from the penalty spot but they couldn’t close it out, conceding an equaliser in the 87th minute.
